Q&A With Melusine Draco

Two questions that often crop up at magical workshops concern the desire to become a healer and how to recognise omens.  In answer to both questions, I am going to allow my Arcanum students to answer on my behalf because their responses (taken from recent lessons) are simple, straightforward and pure common sense …

Following a discussion on healing, our gifted husband and wife team from East Anglia made this comment: “To be honest, neither of us would feel comfortable healing anyone else, since neither of us are free of blockages!  Neither of us are particularly patient and can get stressed, and we think you would have to be a calm and grounded sort of person to heal properly – real healers probably know who they are.  We really wish we were that type of person … but since that is not the case, we wouldn’t inflict our state on anyone else and pass on the angst, so until we could heal ourselves, we wouldn’t heal anybody else.”

Chris, from America, had this to say recently:  “Most of my experience with omens has come from the natural world.  The rule of thumb that I’ve adopted is that it’s only an omen if I don’t have to wonder if it is.  When they come, I know it right away.  If I catch myself wondering if a pattern of flight (or whatever) has some meaning for me, I disregard it.”

Melusine Draco originally trained in the magical arts of traditional British Old Craft with Bob and Meriem Clay-Egerton and is the author of numerous popular books on magic and traditional British Old Craft. If you have any questions you would like answering, remember that the only daft question is the one you didn’t ask.
