My Stall at the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic Conference

As an author, it is a rather wonderful feeling when you realise that you have enough books published to have a stall at a conference all to yourself. OK, it was a tiny stall, but nevertheless it was just for my books.

The stall was at the annual conference of the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic last weekend. It was a fantastic event with lots of eminent speakers talking about ritual magic. The location was fabulous too – the lovely seaside village of Boscastle, in Cornwall.

It was after I had booked my ticket to attend as a delegate that I had the idea of asking for a stall in the conference’s market. The organisers kindly said yes, so I found myself putting out my own books on a small table near other writers who are far more famous than I am, including Dr John Callow and Mark and Tracey Norman.

The great thing about this conference was that I only had to be at my stall before the talks began and during the refreshment breaks. Everyone, including the traders, left the market space to hear the talks when they were taking place.

I sold several copies of Pagan Portals – Candle Magic and the community book Every Day Magic at the event, which was nice, but I was most excited by the interest in my forthcoming book, Pagan Portals – Poppets and Magical Dolls.

Although I had a preview copy on display to show people, the book isn’t launched until August. A lot of people picked it up to have a look and quite a few said they were going to pre-order it.

After the conference, I donated my preview copy of Poppets and Magical Dolls to the museum. So, if you want an early peak at the book, you will find it in the MWM library.
