Magical Food for Luck

Need a bit of luck to come your way?  You can add to your chances of winning the lottery…OK maybe not that lucky, but changing the tide of luck to your favour can be enhanced by eating foods that have lucky magical properties.

Foods for luck:

Bananas, beans, cabbage, coconut, coleslaw, green vegetables and fruit, hazelnuts, nutmeg, pancakes, rice, sauerkraut

Coleslaw

Who would have thought the humble coleslaw was so full of luck?  I love coleslaw but not the usually disappointing shop bought stuff, homemade coleslaw is a whole different realm.  I prefer a ‘drier’ coleslaw but if you like lots of mayo just keep adding a spoonful at a time until you get the consistency you like.

½  of a whole white cabbage
½  of a whole red cabbage
5 carrots
225g /8 oz mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Finely slice both the cabbages and roughly grate the carrots. Whisk together the mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, vinegar, fennel seeds, salt, and pepper.

Pour the dressing over the vegetables and stir well.
