Hekate Einalian Set to Music

You may remember that I recently posted some devotional words I had written for Hekate Einalian, Oceanic Hekate. If not, you can read them here. The story behind this is as follows: I had been invited, along with my family, at very short notice, to embark on a sea trip to the continent. I felt very strongly that I needed to petition Hekate for safe passage. I’m not sure why. I wasn’t particularly scared, but it was the first time travelling with all four of our children, including the newborn baby, so perhaps my maternal instincts were just going crazy. I prayed, I left offerings, and I was left with the very intense impression that in return for this boom, I was to create another piece of devotional music, this time for Hekate Einalian in particular.

The words came quicker than the melody, and as usual, I wanted to polish it up somewhat before releasing it into the wild! Hekate heard it first, of course. The next audience was the Cabaret 30 crowd; a brilliant event which is part of Headingley Literature Festival. My sister was kind enough to film my performance, so here is the first ever public airing of Hekate Einalian, a devotional set to acoustic guitar.
